I mentioned yesterday that I'm working on spending less in January. Only things that are necessary. I'll share some of my wins with you as I have them. If you know me, you know I am an overachiever so I'm always planning for success.
I've decided that I am going to be a bread maker (without a bread machine). I've made a few loaves with somewhat success. Tasted pretty good but could have used some more air and I had read to use a meat thermometer to measure the temp of water - warmer water can help rising but too hot can kill the yeast. This is a problem - trying not to buy things - and then I remembered.... I needed to get some avocados today and I ran into E&L Supermercado (and they have the best chips!). You might not think these two things are related EXCEPT! when someone shops at E&L the shopper accumulates points and one can use those points to buy things! I've known this for quite some time but there usually isn't really anything that I want to buy - until TODAY!
I found a meat thermometer on the pegs and it was 455 points - I had 2600! So today I scored something I needed FOR FREE! I love free stuff!
I also needed 5 gallon water from Lowes. I found two coupons to get free water! I've had them for awhile but I haven't been able to get to Lowes to get them. And I actually like to get the 4 gallon jugs from Kroger because they are easier to handle and they don't require a stupid deposit required. And.... I can use the Kroger ones for winter sowing.
I am such a nerd! The more things I get for free, the more I am excited about to save more money and find ways to get more things for free.
I don't know if you like to use a budgeting app but YNAB has really changed the way I budget and think about money. I get paid every two weeks and this month, I get paid 3 times. I figure out all my bills based on 24 times a year so the extra times are for building up my categories and squirreling away money. What a nerd. 💰🤓
using YNAB has changed my life! It has changed the way I think about money, how I give every dollar I earn a job! I used to be caught off guard by needing tires or a home repair and now I prepare for these things and the amount of stress that I no longer have when things happen, cannot be measured.
If you would like to try YNAB - here is my referral link. YNAB
