Are you excited for Christmas?

Kind of...

I'm excited about reading Isaiah 9:6

6 For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

I'm excited about other people opening their gifts. I'm excited about seeing my family. I'm excited about putting up my tree, the time off around Christmas.

I'm not excited about...
stressful shopping.
Or spending money
About me opening my own presents (believe it or not I don't really like presents)

it will be here before we know it!

Actually, no. I am not excited about Christmas. I have been downsizing Christmas the past two years in fact..less decorations; don't send cards; less money on gifts for the girls. My Fred & I haven't bought for each other is years and neither of us mind that. I don't know why but a kind of depression hits me during that time of year.

One thing I do enjoy is simply spending time at my Mom's with whatever siblings wish to show up. We eat and talk for hours, then go home. I wish it was all that simple.
