So much for writing at least once a week. Man, I'd really like to write every day but I don't think I can be disciplined at that many things LOL. It's just enough to walk every day swim 3-4 times a week with all the real life stuff that goes around.
Yesterday (in my head said "yestaday") I had the honor and privilege of cooking the food for the Woodside Detroit 15 year celebration dinner! It was such a joy. I had it planned out and the celebration was great! It was good to see old face and new faces! To see young and old. It's a joy to serve my church family! There was A LOT of food because you know my motto - better too much than not enough! Lots of choices! I love choices!
I got it all packed up and brought home, finished up the last the dishes, and the last of the dishes are doing their thing in the dishwasher. Can we just take a moment and thank God for the dishwasher? I mean really?! I had to wish the aluminum pans by hand and it gave me extra appreciation for the dishwasher!
The thing about events like this, they are a lot of work, but I really love it all. I mean Friday night I was cutting the potatoes, I was so thankful. I made baked beans like my dad made them. and my favorite way to eat them is cold the next day (I don't know when this started but it makes me think of my dad). I think I am going to nick name my potato salad "non-Karen potato salad" since my friend had to admit it was delicious. HAHA! There are some things that I just don't make. Like Chicken. Man, it's just easier to get baked chicken for events from Kroger. 1. making a crap ton of chicken is a lot of work and I don't have the ovens (or time) for that, and I am pretty sure it's cheaper. For a lot of events like that I get the baked chicken even though I like the fried better, but buying the baked gives an option for gluten free and people on a health journey.
There are moments when I think... I was made for this. And moments when I think... I'm not sure how many more of these I have in me. So I relish every moment. EVERY. MOMENT. The lines of people I get to serve, even if it makes me say "Fishes and Loaves, God, Fishes and Loaves", the compliments on the Ranch Dressing (and everything else LOL), the smiles, the love I see in the eyes of the people looking at each other, the conversations. It makes my heart wide open wider than the second before.
I'm the luckiest.
