I haven't done as well this month as I did last month with meal planning... and it's only the 13th... even just this week I've not done well, we are having yesterday's meal today, and we might not even have today's meal until I am off! This is nothing that matters in the scheme of things... but this is what I decided for January...
I will make a list of 20 meals, I will buy the groceries for those 20 meals, but depending on the week is what we will have. So I will plan a month's worth of meals, but plan weekly when we will eat them.
The biggest issue has been that our schedule is nuts, Phyllis works different hours every week, and I know it sounds completely ridiculous (but it's not to me!) that she have a good something to eat before she goes to work. Making crockpot meals on the days she works at 4 is perfect because it is done by the time she can eat, and still hot (I have one of those crockpots that has a timer) when I get home for dinner. One the days when I don't make dinner until I get home, it means not such a great meal for her before she goes to work. Yes, I realize she's almost 19 but I love her and so it's a small thing to work around. And... wouldn't you want someone to do that for you?
So instead of feeling like a failure when I don't 'hit the mark' every day or things don't go as planned, I will just change the way I plan :)
Also going to plan my fruits and veggies better... just joined WW yesterday! What kind of weirdo joins WW 2 weeks before Christmas and her birthday? The kind of weirdo who doesn't want to buy bigger pants!
