was listening to my favorite Rhapsody Playlist on my way home from breakfast and the song “Dark Horses” by Switchfoot came on. It happens to be one of my favorite songs, it is probably one of the most likely songs that I will get a speeding ticket to, as well. I’m a rock and roll girl, I love all kinds of music, but I love Rock N Roll (put another dime in the jukebox baby)
I love the music music of the song, but the lyrics blow me away. I am usually screaming them while singing.
Some of the lines in the song blow me away. You see, I have seen a lot of life. And a lot of that life I’ve seen has been dark. I’ve had lots of good stuff too, but life isn’t easy. A lot of the things we go through are from the choices we make, and that drives our consequences. I’ve never been a quitter, and sometimes that can be a fault, but I know that things might get hard, but I won’t break. I may be close (like on Sunday when I was standing on the edge of the cliff – figuratly) and God sent me someone to ease me back) but I will not be broken. You can’t beat me. Because when I am weak, He is strong (2 Cor 12:9), and He walks into every battle before me. Nothing is out of His reach. And He loves me.
Born for the blue skies
We'll survive the rain
Born for the sunrise
We'll survive the pain
How true is that? Sometimes we just have to trust that He has our best interests at heart. He has made us for His glory, and that is good. Whatever comes up against us, whatever rain falls, we were born for blue skies. We were born to see the sunrise, I mean does it not say… His mercies are new every morning (Lam 3:22-23). We will survive whatever comes up against us because God never leaves us.
We will never be broken.
Jesus made sure of that.
Proverbs 21:31 The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the LORD
Dark Horses By Switchfoot
I've made my mistakes
I've seen my heart cave in
I got my scars
I've been to hell and back again
Born for the blue skies
We'll survive the rain
Born for the sunrise
We'll survive the pain
We're singing...
Hey, you can't count us out
We've been running up against the crowd
Yeah, we are the dark horses
We're singing...
Wait! it's not over now
We've been down but we've never been out
Yeah, we are the dark horses
We found a way out
The city takes everything it can
But outside the crowds
I can feel my lungs again
Born for the blue skies
We'll survive the rain
Born for the sunrise
We'll survive the pain
We're singing...
Hey, you can't count us out
We've been running up against the crowd
Yeah, we are the dark horses
We're singing...
Wait! it's not over now
We've been down but we've never been out
Yeah, we are the dark horses
We're singing...
Laa la-la-la-la-lala
Laa la-la-la-la-lala
Yeah!
Born for the blue skies,
Born for the blue skies
Born for the sunrise
We'll survive the pain
We're singing...
Hey! you can't count us out
We've been running up against the crowd
Yeah, we are the dark horses
We're singing...
We don't care what they say!
We know we'll find a way!
Yeah, we are the dark horses
