I've been wanting to post this for a week but couldn't get my thoughts together.
There are a lot of things I've learned/gained in the last year! I feel so much stronger physically and mentally!
A year ago i could not walk downstairs without knew pain. Now i walk down the stairs normally
I could not carry a 5 gallon bucket of water up the stairs stepping normally, i had to step up, put the next foot on the same step. Now i can walk up the stairs easily with the water (this is a normal occurrence because i use the water from my dehumidifier for my flowers ) and i have down two buckets!
The seat belt on an airplane was always to the max length and now i can adjust it with 5 inches to spare.
I've stopped killing my clothes by stretching them and now i wear a smaller size and clothes that i haven't worn in years are now fitting! Some are a little big too!
have increased mobility. When we first started going to the Lions' games i couldn't get up to cheer because my hip hurt so much. And now i hop right up !
A year ago i couldn't swim one lap and now i can swim 34 in 30 minutes. I started with the breast stroke and moved on to backstroke and i set a goal to swim 1 lap front crawl by Oct 1 and i accomplished it! I will continue to work on that!
I was intimidated by swimming with the Master swimmers in the lap (big kid) pool and i did it!! On a Saturday i went in and swam in the one closest to the edge. And I've swam in the middle lanes.
On the days the pool is really full i had to ask someone to share a pool lane. And i did! I'm slow and was intimidated by others and their speed. But now I'm thankful I've learned to accept my own pace and people ask me now!
On hard days I've learned a trip to the pool can help my mental state and reduce stress.
Being in the pool has helped me to regulate my breathing.
When i started swimming i listened to podcasts or music. But once i changed to the backstroke the RF signal wouldn't go through the water so i had to get used to the silence. But i certainly did it and i have learned to enjoy it and spend the time praising and praying.
I have had so many people inspire me. And helped me grow in this journey. I have goggles thanks to a friend, i bought flippers with my health and wellness gift card! So many people have cheered me on and I'm so thankful!
