Shine the Light!

I was thinking about shining the light of Christ and how sometimes we make it a lot harder than it really it is! Let’s just break it down simply like the light in your house! It seems kind of elementry... but we're supposed to come to Jesus like little children...

If you want the light to shine on you, you’ve got to open the drapes (your heart). You wouldn’t keep everything all closed up expecting to get light in, now would you. Light shines best when things are open, and God works best in your heart if it’s open to Him.

You’ve got to keep your light bulbs replaced. You’ve got to read, sing, worship, meet new friends who are Christians. Just like a light bulb, somethings only last for a short time, things in our lives are sometimes just there for a season. And you’ve got to prepare! Have CDs in your car, have new books ready to read, teachings… keep your light bulbs stocked.

Pay your electric bill. Read your bible, do things for others, you’ve got to be prepared… you wouldn’t expect for the lights to work if you didn’t prepare, and you can’t expect God to work in you if you don’t do anything. Now occasionally you don’t pay the bill and the electric company forgets to turn the juice off, and I think God can do that too… but it’s much better if you prepare. Although, with Jesus, your bill is already paid.

Turn the lights on wherever you go! Be a blessing to people. You don’t turn the lamp next to the bed and expect it to light the whole house do you? Just is the same, you can’t just be a blessing in one place and expect to shine all over. You’ve got to be a blessing wherever you go.

A lot of times I sign things “be blessed, be a blessing”. It’s great to be blessed. Sometimes there is no greater feeling than being covered by the blanket of grace. There’s nothing like the light and the heat from the Son-shine. I believe that we are put on this earth to be Jesus in a real way to people who already believe and people who don’t.

I was thinking about the bridge in the song 'Mighty to Save' by Hillsong...

Shine your light and let the whole world see,We're singing for the glory of the risen King...Jesus!

2 Corin 4:6 For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

I love this post! ...tried to comment yesterday at work, by the work computers have us "locked out" for comments - imagine that, they expect us to not to be goofing off on the computer and to be actually working!!

...and excellent song to illustrate your point!
