Is it wierd that I want to learn to knit?

I want to make Prayer Shawls... my old church used to have this ministry.... I thought it was soo cool... however, at the time, I had no desire to learn to knit... until now.

My cousin has breast cancer. She starts her treatments today. Breast cancer is sca-wie... maybe it's scary to everyone but no matter how much science has taken us, it still makes me concerned because in my experience (very first hand) people die. Ugh. I hate that. I don't know what to do except pray and offer to clean...

And then I thought of my 'scarf' sisters. I thought it would be great for my cousin to have a prayer shawl to keep her warm this winter. By the time I finish it, she'll probably be healed but she can have it anyway :) So I must now learn to knit! I hope I can pray and knit at the same time, I got the walking and chewing gum thing down.

I think I know one person who can teach me! I'm pretty excited!

Ecc 4:10-12
10 If one falls down,
his friend can help him up.
But pity the man who falls
and has no one to help him up!

11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.
But how can one keep warm alone?

12 Though one may be overpowered,
two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

Knitting is not nerdy Margie! But you need good eyesight or good magnifying glasses. What a great idea to knit as you pray. BTW my test came back negative ... remember you said to let you know??? ;) just forget to do that til now. Hugs and thanks for the prayers.

Sorry to hear about your cousin, I will keep her (and you) in my prayers. God still heals and I will stand with you on that promise. I think knitting is cool.

Oh Margie - I wish we lived closer because I just told my friend Dawna that I want to learn to knit and she's supposed to be teaching me soon! I do crochet --and love it - and it's not at all nerdy that you want to learn to knit!

I will be praying for your cousin. God is able!

i used to crochet (nothing fancy, straight lines only) many many moons ago, i so enjoyed it. life gets away and i'm afraid my hands will bunch up into knots.

I have never learned to knit. My Grandmother in Germany could knit, crochet, tat, make lace and sew! I can only crochet! I have made numerous afghans for our family and soon will be starting one for our newest grandchild once we know what it is!

When you learn to knit you can teach me! I crochet some, I am in the process of buying yarn to make Tomer and the grandbabies new Winter Scarves. Tomer lost the last one I made him and the Grandbabies need bigger ones! I find it very relaxing! Good therapy, now I will pray over them like I did our "Travelin' Scarf!"

my friend starting a prayer shawl ministry at st. paul's lutheran in trenton. it is an awesome ministry. she gave me one of her prayer shawls for my friend who has breast cancer. It is awesome for them to wrap up in all the prayers said while knitting. there was someone at church knitting... can't remember who it was though. does Sue B know how to knit?
