Going!

Sometimes I wonder if God just rolls around laughing at the dumb stuff I say.

When Phyllis went on her first overseas mission trip when people asked me if I was going, I would say “if God calls me to an overseas mission trip, I am hanging up!”  Yes it is very true that I said that.

THEN my friends and I are going to El Salvador… did I mention?  That’s overseas.

THEN this morning God and I start wrestling about me going to Haiti with Alive.  Do you know that when we were deciding about where to go with LWI to dig a well... I prayed we wouldn't go to Haiti... and now I can't wait to get there! Now, I’ve got a long list of reasons (excuses!) why I can’t go…  And then God pull the “Trust Me” card out.  That just makes me crazy because He KNOWS I cannot say no to that!

And let us not forget that I get EXACLTLY 3 weeks vacation.  Let’s count them off:
  1. Haiti
  2. Detroit
  3. El Salvador

I am not a selfless person!  I like my time off, I wanted to see if I could swing a New York trip this year.  What the heck?!  NO!

Money!  Two trips!  one summer!  that's nuts!  that's a lot of money!

Do you know that I am not that good at following?  Oh, I am not a leader on this trip.

It’s HOT there!  I don’t like to sweat, I’m fat.

2 words for you…  BED BUGS

Oh deliver me from that!

Let’s not forget… I AM FAT!

So now that I’ve got that all out of my system…

God said ‘GO!’ so I’m going.

All the things that I am (that are stinky), He’s bigger than all my selfishness.  He’s bigger than all my fear!

All the things I am not.  Well, He says that He is.  And I believe Him.

The door is open. And I’m walking through.  I know there will be lots and lots of growing and stretching!  I know there will be lots of praying, and lots of listening!

There will be lots of praising going on! And reading my bible.  And opening my heart to Him. And lots of preparing!  And lots of opportunities to be obedient.

Yes, I’m a little scared, but my friend Kelly posted the other day :  The phrase "do not be afraid" is written in the Bible 365 times. That's a daily reminder from God to live every day being fearless

Here I go!

Send me!

Deut 10:12-13  And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in obedience to him, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, 13 and to observe the LORD’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good?

I wish you God's rich blessing on your mission trip.
I know for sure he'll be there with you all the time. He knows your needs and he knows the needs of the unsaved as well.
Go in peace, his reward is with you. I cannot wait to hear the reports.

P.S. I have no exactly vision of you being fat. Have you seen the pictures of many of the old missionary giants???
Some of them were in frank terms really stout. I've never heard that mentioned as a minus before.
One famous said, but Lord, "I don't know how to speak."
If the Lord need you, it's because he knows your qualities. May He bless and strengthen you.
