He is

I know that there are a lot of people who don't believe in God.  If some really smart, logical person asks me how I know there is a God, I don't really have a smart, logical answer.  I just know there is.

How can you look at a sunset or a sunrise or see a beautiful child or hear a giggle, how can you feel a hug or experience a smile, and not know there is a God?  Do you think I just randomly showed up?  ohmyword, no one would have ever planned me...  however, God weaved me.  He knew.  He knew all the mess I'd make, and He knew the joy I'd bring when I'm living my life for Him.

He knew.  He is.  I AM.

Today I was talking to a friend who knew me before I was saved, he's a pastor.  We've been friends for a long time.  I was telling him today that sometimes I am just blown away by the fact that not only do I know God and He speaks my language because He loves me, I am learning His Word. I KNOW IT!  I can find it.  I love learning it, I love the peace it brings me, and I love sharing it with others.

Here's the thing, I don't just like the Word of God, I don't just love it, I BELIEVE it.

I believe all the stuff in the old testament, it's real and relevant to my life as it was all those years ago.  I believe the life of Jesus, I believe that He was born of a virgin in fulfillment of the scripture, I know that He died on a cross, and I BELIEVE He rose again, and is ALIVE and because of that, I live!

How do I know? I just do.

Because He is the I am.

John 1:1-18

In the beginning the Word already existed.
The Word was with God,
  and the Word was God.
He existed in the beginning with God.
God created everything through him,
and nothing was created except through him.
The Word gave life to everything that was created
and his life brought light to everyone.
The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness can never extinguish it.[b]
God sent a man, John the Baptist,[c] to tell about the light so that everyone might believe because of his testimony.John himself was not the light; he was simply a witness to tell about the light. The one who is the true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world.
10 He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him. 11 He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. 12 But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.13 They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.
14 So the Word became human[d] and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness.[e] And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.
15 John testified about him when he shouted to the crowds, “This is the one I was talking about when I said, ‘Someone is coming after me who is far greater than I am, for he existed long before me.’”
16 From his abundance we have all received one gracious blessing after another.[f] 17 For the law was given through Moses, but God’s unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God. But the unique One, who is himself God,[g] is near to the Father’s heart. He has revealed God to us.

In reference to your comment regarding looking at a sunrise....I read this in my textbook on Sunday afternoon, while I was attempting to STUDY while sitting lakeside with my husband and daughter while they were fishing:

"Natural creation is a form of sign language through which God expressed Himself."

At that point, I thought to myself, I need to close this book and enjoy this awesome lake and just relax and take in His creation.

At the precise moment that I closed my book, a loon popped up from under the surface of the water with a fish in his mouth! Ah...see how God is! Needless to say - my book stayed closed for the rest of the afternoon and I thoroughly enjoyed God's expression through His creation!
Let me just say that be assured that your (my) faith is not something that we have to leave our brains at the door to believe. it is very much a thinking persons faith. Your reliance on Scripture and the Ressurection of Jesus Christ is not based on loose testimony and inaccurate or unreliable texts. We don't all have to be apologists ... but always have confidence in our faith. For me, my journey was much about science and reasoning ... which clearly pointed to a creator. It went from there to study this man named Christ ... and found some amazing truth there! I love the beauty and purity of your faith ... my degrees mean nothing eternally ... Christ is everything.
