Peanut Butter and Jelly

I really love Peanut Butter and Jelly. In our house we only eat natural peanut butter, and if I switch to organic, I might have to sell my house because it’s expensive and we eat a lot of peanut butter. (I don’t really know how people eat that Crisco tasting non-natural peanut butter, it’s DISGUSTING!!!) And we only eat strawberry jelly, though sometimes we might use a banana in the place of jelly. I’d like to try my hand at apple butter, I think we’d like it even though in my whole life, I’ve actually never eaten apple butter.

half of my sandwich this morning
yes... it's ugly, but delicious

Yesterday I made homemade bread in my bread machine and sliced it up before I left for Alive, and my first thought was “it’s gonna be a peanut butter and jelly week”. That sounds delightful doesn’t it? I started with breakfast.

Something about the simplicity of peanut butter and jelly. It’s easy to make, it’s a meal that we can take on the go, though sometimes I have to be careful because jelly can be a dangerous thing if I put too much on.

Sometimes I think I need to plan extravagant meals for dinner and somehow that makes me seem like a better mom/head of household and it’s nice to have great meals, but sometimes, if I am honest, it’s exhausting and it makes me have too much emphasis on food. And that’s never good.

I used to pack my days full of good stuff, really good stuff. Like some of the meals I’ve planned but honestly, that wasn’t good for me,

it.was.just.too.much.

Simple is good. I’m realizing how much sweeter life is when it is enjoyed, and it is savored, and it is simple.

It’s gonna be a good and simple week. It’s gonna be busy, but it’s gonna be good.

A peanut butter and jelly week!
