Calming chaos

There is something about chaos. You can let it continue to feed off itself or you can command it to stop.

I'm in the bible reading plan New 30. Funny (or not) that after only 6 days I was a little behind. Yesterday I made the decision to get caught up at all costs.  (and I am!!)

Things seem to be a bit crazy around me and my heart is breaking for so many that are hurting around me. I read yesterday:

“Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. (Mark 11:22-24 NIV)

So if it is indeed true that I can cast a mountain into the ocean, then clearly it must be true that I can calm the chaos in my heart.

Have faith in God Jesus said. I'd say more that it is a command. Do this! Not like he invited us for a piece of pizza, it's an invitation to have true peace.

There are certain songs that bring me to a heart that I long for.

This song often brings me to tears.

Do you remember the first time you hear a song? Sometimes we sing songs so much they become almost part of our DNA and truly this song is one of them.

But nothing will EVER beat the very first time I heard this song... A small room in El Salvador. "If you don't know this song you're in trouble". Story of my life... I'm in trouble. We sang this song and I tried to keep up... I didn't love Jesus my whole life I didn't know this song but wow, it sang so true to my heart.  Sometimes there is nothing like remembering a sweet time with Jesus, it calms our hearts and reminds us who we are, His.

These days I live a life of love that many don't understand. Heck I don't even understand it most days. I live in a world that doesn't love Jesus and I do, and sometimes I hate to admit, I can blend in like a chameleon.

But if I could have any one thing, it would be that my life would look different, no more chameleon, a life that can calm the chaos around me because I believe I can because I have faith in God.

My life might not always be perfect, but I strive to be more like Him and live a life fully devoted.  I have decided...  and I will every day, every hour, every minute, every second, every heartbeat.

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. (Hebrews 12:1-3 NIV)T
