The leisure pool is open now, it's been under construction for the last 6 weeks or so... maybe longer - I can't remember. I remember when I first read the sign that the leisure pool was going to be closed, I was so scared about swimming in the "big kids pool" and now it's my new normal. swimming has taught me so much about myself.
When I first came over to the Big Kids pool hardly anyone talked to me. Except for my new friend Margaret, she is a retired teacher and has been so encouraging. We start and finish swimming at the same time, but she does more laps than me :) but as the time has gone on, the Master Swimmers talk to me sometimes now. one day they were asking me about my waterproof headphones and what podcasts I listen to while swimming. I can't lie - I was like "wow"! ππππππ
A friend of mine bought me a pair of goggles and I was so happy because I keep getting water in my eyes, and I was going to get a pair (and he didn't know) and he had gotten me a pair as a surprise! I jumped in the water with my EarPods (that hook over my ears) and my goggles and don't you know, I lost one of my EarPods! Ugh! but where I jumped in was 12ft deep. So I chalked it up to stupidity... was going to have to pay stupidity tax and buy a new pair! When I saw my friend and his person at the pool today, I told them and he dove and got it for me! I also ordered myself some new swim caps to protect my hair and some new shampoo... I'm a real swimmer now LOL!π©±
Today I saw some friends from the leisure pool, it was nice to see them again! And they were excited to get back to their routine! one friend I am going to miss because she's been working out in the bulkhead so now I won't see her as much anymore! she's so great! And she shares great recipes with me!
I love swimming! I love to see how setting goals and things that frighten me - I am able to overcome those fears! I've grown stronger and stronger. I've used it to make my body strong and for mental health. Its been such a great journey!
