LITGWM: Seasons

In 2016 I changed employers after a good run at my now previous employer. I gave notice the day after Labor Day.

It was bittersweet, I really liked the people I worked with, and I liked my job, but I felt it was time to move.  Change is not always easy for me.
I had interviewed in June for my now company - it was a promotion.  Honestly I have no idea what took them sooooo long to bring me on.  Not known for my patience, I held tight.  I knew I'd be working for a great guy, he had been my boss before and we worked together at the company afore mentioned.  I knew what I was getting myself into 😆

When I gave my two weeks notice, I knew they'd walk me out since I was going to work for a competitor & they paid me for those two weeks.

I'd decided to take the two weeks off - I decided I'd probably never get two weeks off in a row again - I was almost right! (I was able to go to Uganda and Europe - two separate trips!)

Every year (except last year) I come up North - usually to the Traverse City Area and one year I spent the time in the Upper Peninsula.  I don't usually do much but enjoy the area.  Some years I spend way too much time running around seeing alllllll the things.

This year - even though it didn't start out like I'd planned. but here I am and it worked out better than I could have imagined!  Sunday I did some running around, unpacked, and got ready for the week.  I also had a chance to relax.  I went to bed and woke up to the birds chirping and the water hitting the shore.  The fresh air was GLORIOUS!  I got up and ran to a little place called Nine Bean Rows!  I had the most delicious breakfast Sammy.  Like one of the best I've ever had in my life!  I picked up some bread so fresh that it couldn't be sliced!

I sat in their outside dining area enjoying the farm.  I was enjoying it and thinking and dreaming about my garden for the next year!  I even drew it out so I can plan and I'm checking MIGARDENER for my seed picks for next year.

I know it seems crazy to be planning for next year but I know it needs to be done and I have the time!
I've been thinking about the seasons - mostly summer and fall.  How much I love the end of summer and fall!  This summer has been really hot. I hate being hot!  LOL.  Its made being in the garden really difficult! I've also been so tired this summer & because it was so hot, I didn't spend as much time out there as I should have and it's not as great as it could have been!

THIS IS MY FAVORITE TIME OF YEAR!  The harvest!

Summer, like some seasons in life, is hot and hard!  Sometimes it's unstructured and it seems like one obstacle after another.  Strong rain, storms, heat.  It makes it hard to breathe sometimes.  And even though the days seem really long, it seems to go by in an instant if I am not intentional with my time.
The harvest time is great because all the hard work has fruit🍓 and everyone who has been around for any time knows I love me some fruit (Of the Spirit).  It's easier in this time to slow down.  Bushels of veg to can.  Time needs to be intentional or the winter will come and there will be no yummy canned goods.
The seasons teach us so much!

Spring - Hope
Summer - hard growth
fall - harvet
winter - rest

Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control.
